How Parent Club works

At Parent Club, we know that all children are different and no two families are the same. And that no one likes being told what to do. Our peer-to-peer, tip-based formula means that information on Parent Club is easy to take in, easy to action and completely non-judgmental. By offering a range of ideas for parents and carers to try, we can support them to navigate their way through family life in a way that suits them.

Our information aims to motivate parents to make small changes in their daily lives that will not only address current problems (from babies that won’t sleep to teens that won’t listen), but will also have a big impact over time. And our simple tips, with their emphasis on easy, free and low cost activities, enable them to make these changes, boosting the wellbeing of the whole family.

We also know that busy parents take in information in different ways. So throughout the website, you’ll also find videos to share, including tips from other parents, reassuring messages from health and education professionals and fun activities for parents to try with their children.

How you know you can trust the information on Parent Club

Everything we do is informed by evidence and insight. We work with other parents, child and family experts and the NHS to understand the needs of Scotland’s parents and carers. All the advice, information and tips on the website have been approved by professionals who know exactly what families are going through, including midwives, nurses, child and educational psychologists, mental health professionals and organisations like the NSPCC, Barnardo’s, Citizens Advice Scotland and lots more.

We regularly review and update the information on Parent Club, to make sure we’re always giving you the most up-to-date advice. And we’re always looking for ways to add to and improve the website, which is why we ask for comments in the feedback form at the bottom of each article.

We also carry out regular testing on the website, to make sure families can find, understand and use the advice easily on the site.
